Is LookTab free?
Yes. LookTab and all 14 widgets are free. A paid Pro plan with extras is coming later; everything that is free today stays free.
Do I need an account?
No. Without an account everything is stored in your browser and nothing about you reaches us. An account is only needed if you want your boards on several computers.
Where is my data stored?
Always in your browser first. If you create an account, the content you sync (boards, widgets, bookmarks, notes, tasks) is also stored on our server so it can reach your other devices. Wallpapers and site logos stay on each device.
How does sync work?
Sign in with the same account on each computer. Changes are sent in the background and appear on your other devices within moments — even edits you made offline.
How do I back up my boards?
Open Settings → Privacy and data → Back up and restore, and save a backup file. You can restore it on any computer, with or without an account.
How do I delete my account?
Open Account → Delete account. Everything stored on our server is deleted at once. You can choose to keep or remove the data in your browser.
Which browsers are supported?
Google Chrome, and other Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Brave. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.
Will LookTab change my search engine?
No. The search box uses the search engine you chose in your browser's settings.
Why does LookTab ask for the bookmarks or notifications permission?
Only when you use a feature that needs it: bookmarks permission to import your browser's bookmarks, notifications for reminders. Both are optional and can be withdrawn in Settings → Permissions.
Does LookTab read my browsing history?
No. LookTab has no access to the pages you visit and sends no analytics or telemetry.
Why does my news widget show nothing?
Some sites have no RSS feed or block requests. Try another address for the site, or another source. The widget shows which source failed.
I didn't get the verification or password e-mail.
Check your spam folder and that the address is spelled correctly. For privacy reasons we send nothing — and show no error — for addresses without a verified account.
How do I make LookTab my new tab page?
Add LookTab from the Chrome Web Store; it replaces the new tab page right away. If Chrome asks whether to keep the change, choose Keep. To go back, turn LookTab off on the browser's extensions page.
Can I see Google Calendar on my new tab?
Yes. Connect Google Calendar in the calendar widget (read-only). A small widget shows your agenda; make it bigger for Day, Week and Month views like Google Calendar.
Does LookTab show prayer times and exchange rates?
Yes. The prayer times widget shows daily times for your city with a countdown, worked out on your device. The currency widget shows exchange rates and gold prices with alerts.
Does LookTab work offline?
Yes. Everything is stored in your browser first, so your board opens instantly even without a connection; live data such as weather and news refreshes when you are back online.
